THESE ARE A FEW OF MY FAVORITE THINGS….

kreative_blogger_award

Today is my lucky day! John Abuzz was gracious enough to offer me a Kreativ Blogger Award, which I truly appreciate.    Actually,  it’s kinda cool to be hit with a “Kreativ” Blogger  award since I never thought of myself as all that creative…maybe eccentric, eclectic,  or just plain odd.  Either way, I’ll take it  because not only was it a generous gift given by a blogger who I adore,  but also because a gal likes to be noticed every once in awhile,  even when she’s not wearing her Wonder Woman Underoo’s.   Not to mention,   he’s one of the few people who have ever read my Disclaimer on the sidebar.  Nothing gets by that guy.   ;-)

So,  it turns out that this is an award which doubles as a meme.  Yikes! I knew there would be a catch!   Ok,  here are the rules .  If you accept it, you are supposed to list seven of your favorite things and nominate seven blogs that deserve this award. And of course copy the award to your site and link back to this post or my blog.

I already did the linky thing to John’s blog in my first line of this post.  Now I have to list seven of my favorite things…

Alright…alright…those are Julie Andrew’s favorite things, and believe me…you DON’T want me to sing about my favorite things.   That would be cruel and scary.

I’ve been informed that the favorite things have to be inanimate objects, so I have to leave off things like my dog and my grandkids.

Here goes…seven of my favorite things (not in any particular order)

1.)  Triple layer chocolate fudge cake with chocolate fudge frosting.

2.) My treadmill …which I need because I can’t resist item number one.  (Sorry elliptical machine,  the treadmill was my first exercise machine and it doesn’t send subliminal messages to me with visions of  my ass getting fatter while scarfing down Pop Tarts and watching reruns of Little House on the Prairie instead of working out.)  That Nellie Olsen,  don’t ya just want to smack that girl?

3.) Copper Kettles.   Just like Julie Andrews!   I don’t have a large collection of copper kettles,  but I can never pass one up while hanging out in antique markets.  I currently own 7 copper kettles in various sizes and shapes.  I would own more if I wasn’t such a  cheapskate.   I refuse to buy anything in an antique store without bargaining the price down.  I never pay full price for anything…not even sex.  Wait…did I just say that out loud?  Sorry.

4.)  My eye glasses..I couldn’t type this post without them.   %#@%*   old age! But the glasses are a plus because they  make me look reelee  reelee   smrt.  I’d rather put sex on the list instead of eye glasses,  but that’s not “inanimate”  object—unless I’m really tired.   Moving on….

5.)   My bike.  I love my bike and it loves me right back.  Not once have I heard it groan as I shove my foot into the  toe straps of the peddle.  Not a peep out of this bike when I   plop my rear end onto  it’s  semi-comfortable seat.  Never do I hear it yell at me for switching the gears too fast or slamming on the breaks to avoid hitting the bike in front of me because I was too busy checking out the good looking  fireman on the trail ahead of me.

6.)   Apples.  I eat at least two and sometimes three apples a day.  My favorite apples are Fuji and Cameo.  What’s weird is,  when I eat an apple,  I just have to have a glass of cold milk to go with it.   I have no idea why I crave that combination but that’s something that I’ve been doing since I was a kid.  Go figure.

7.)   My iPod.    I do everything with my iPod…clean house,  work in the yard,  exercise,  tune out the kids and the hubby.   I recently received one of those Touch iPod’s  for my birthday,  which is even better because I can check my e-mail without having to go to my computer and I can also put a bunch of pictures of the family on it…just in case I forget what they look like when I’m  out smoking weed.  I mean pulling weeds.  You know what I mean.

I hope John doesn’t mind, but I need to put up an alternative list just in case my parish priest or pastor are reading this.   I have the feeling they’ve already had a few discussions about my behavior on this blog.

going2“Father O’Malley, we have to do something about Nunly. She’s getting out of control. I suggest you remind her who wears the dress in this family.”

Here ya go, Father. THESE are a few of my favorite things…honest!

1.)  My Bible

2.) My Rosary

3. ) My Prayer book

4.) My Gregorian Chant CD

5.) My picture of Pope John Paul II

6.) The Cross hanging on my bedroom wall.

7.)  My collection of Holy Cards from the wakes of dead people I once knew.

Now…for the best part.  I get to send this on to seven more people.  Heh, heh, heh.   If you don’t make this list,  don’t feel bad because I know a lot of people don’t like to do meme’s and I tried not to piss you off.   If I’m going to piss anyone off, it should be for something really good,  like political stuff or religious posts.

1.)The first blogger that came to mind was Sue from  phantsythat.  Now there’s a girl who has creativity just oozing out of her.  An accomplished artist,  story writer, and all around great blogger.  And she has a crow for a friend.  How cool is that?

2.)  Majority of  Two.  I love reading Jo’s blog because when I read her posts I feel like I’m sitting across the kitchen table with a friend and having a cup of coffee and reminiscing.   Her insight on art and noticing small details about life that the average person may not see is so much fun, not to mention, plenty of food for thought.  The good kind of food,  not like chocolate cake or Twinkies.

3.)  Of course,  I could never forget Randal of L’ennui mélodieux. Most everyone who reads his blog already knows the guy  can write poetry, prose, mysteries,  and even make hockey and basketball  sound interesting.  I may tease him about his posts, but to be honest, he’s always the first blog that I stop at every day.  I’m hooked.

4.)  I’m not going to forget okjimm from OKJIMM’S EGROLL EMPORIUM, even is he has gone into some weird deep slumber and his blog seems to be inactive.  I’m hoping that he’ll wake up soon and get cracking on putting up some new posts.  His style of writing is so much fun to read.  I miss that guy…GIVE HIM BACK TO US WISCONSIN, YOU SUCKY STATE!

5.)  Chef Cthulhu of Cthulhu’s Family Restaurant is also a great place to hang out.  Although,  he promises a plate of pancakes if we visit,  I’ve yet to see or even smell the rich aroma of pancakes with melted butter and  maple syrup when I get there.   What’s the deal Chef?  That’s ok,  ‘cuz his movie reviews are worth the trip through blogland.

6.)  I’m going to take a chance and put up a blog called,  Looky Daddy, even though this guy doesn’t know me from Adam and I doubt if he’d be interested in receiving any awards or doing meme’s.  I just want to point out his blog in case anyone has missed it on my blogroll.   I’m much too shy to go over there and tell him I have this award and meme for him.    He  is a stay at home dad with a twin girls that are a delight and his  stories about the kids are incredibly funny at times, and occasionally there will be a  sad one that will tug at your heart.    His style of writing reminds me a lot of Dave Barry– only better.  Not all his posts are humorous,  but he manages to put life into perspective in a unique way…a creative way.   I think I’ve only left one comment on his blog before, but I read it regularly and would suggest you check it out if you have time.

7.)  Last but not least,  Dr. Zaius of  Zaius Nation.  I mean, really…what could be more creative than an Ape who could do photo-shop?  You only have to look at his blog for a nano-second to see  the amazing work that comes from that maniacal brain of his.   Now,  I know he ran against the Jood/Nunly ticket in the Presidential race, but he would never have come close to beating us if I had been a more active participant while campaigning.  Life threw me a few lemons back in October and I had to deal with that instead of blogging or the election.  But wait until  2012 you hairy ape!   ;-)

Ok…I’m done, finally.  I really do make things more complicated than they need be, don’t I?  Some call that creative…others call it annoying.

Now get cracking on those meme’s before I start singing  “Dominique”….

GuitarDebbie

Dominique, nique, nique, over the land he plods
And sings a little song
Never asking for reward
He just talks about the Lord
He just talks about the Lord

Had enough???? And you guys thought waterboarding was bad, pfft! Nuns have got it all over the CIA when it comes to torture.   MAKE IT STOP, SISTER!  MAKE IT STOP PLEEEEEZE!!!

  1. Uuuurgh…

Thanks for the tag! Life’s been a bit fast and overwhelming lately, hence my silence, but I’ll be sure to pick up and put out my list as soon as I can!

  2. I found you … Yay!!! Congratulations on the award. And thank you for passing it on to me.

I am taking a break from my computer for a few days, but as soon as I am back I will pass this on.

Great answers, by the way. It’s fun to get to know you…!

  3. Wow what a terrific post (you put me to shame)! Keep in mind my connection is slow, so I don’t have the patience to be as creative…come to think of it, I don’t know how I got chosen for that award!

I love checking out the new blogs, so I will be doing that! Of course, I already read Jo’s every chance I get. I didn’t forget her…people will be ducking and hiding, when they realize I have 2 more awards to dish out! I did the oldest one first!

That’s one of my favorite songs. It’s on my Lorrie Morgan cd. Listen to it on Youtube, if you get a chance!

It’s nice to see you have your priorities in order with your list of favorite things! I loved this post so much, never dreamed it would be a double whammy! Thank you so much for all the kind words!

  4. It’s very kind of you to have chosen me from among so many excellent and talented blog friends. It may take a day or two (working’s a bitch) but maybe if Crow has a moment he might just feel like sharing some of his favorite things. I’ll ask him next time he flies in from wherever he’s been hanging out these last few days :-)

  5. Being forced to watch The Sound of Music, or being waterboarded. Hmm. Can’t you just put up more shots of Wonder Woman? No, wait, my head is already too big from your complimentary compliments. ;-)

No, wait again, what’s with creative starting with a K? Are you Kommie KGB? I’m telling Zombie Reagan on you!

  6. My picture of Pope John Paul II is my favorite thing in the world, too.

  7. Great meme, ME!

I love Looky Daddy – in fact, ironically, he is my neighbor – moved from the next town over to a house about 3 blocks from me – and I still haven’t met him in person!

  8. Thanks Mauigirl-

Wow,I had no idea that you actually kinda knew Brian. I’m really hooked on his blog. I hope you get to meet him sometime, he sounds like a nice guy and his daughters sound just adorable.

Thanks for stopping by, and feel free to do this meme and take part in the award, I’d love to see it on your blog. I’m officially making you number 8. I can change the rules because that makes me “Kreative”. ;-)

  9. Cool, thanks Mary Ellen! I need some fodder so it will give me some inspiration! I’m kind of burned out on politics these days!

Our local blog, Baristanet.com, covers the three towns that adjoin each other, including mine, and they occasionally have a get-together for people who read Baristanet. I’ve happened to miss several of these events where I might have got to meet Brian! And the one I did go to he wasn’t at. My friend in the neighborhood, however, has met him several times – he’s a great guy, and I agree, his blog is wonderful. I may have seen him in the ‘hood and not even realized it was him!
